Steve Ditko was an American comic book artist and writer best known for co-creating some of the most iconic superheroes in comic book history. Born in 1927, he worked for Marvel Comics during the early 1960s, where he collaborated with Stan Lee. Together, they created Spider-Man, and Ditko was responsible for designing Spider-Man’s costume, visual style, and many of the character’s early stories.
He also co-created Doctor Strange, bringing a unique, surreal artistic style that made the character’s mystical world visually distinctive. Steve Ditko was known for being private and avoiding the spotlight, preferring to let his work speak for itself. Despite his low public profile, his influence on the comic book industry is immense, and his creative legacy continues to shape superhero storytelling and modern pop culture today.
